Computed from our published flat rates and a deliberately simple used-value estimate. Sometimes the answer is: don't pay us. That answer is the point.

How the math works: we compare the published flat rate for the fault you picked against a crude used-value estimate (roughly 55% of new after year one, then about 15% more gone each year, floored at 10%). Faults the shop quotes at the bench, like batteries and hinges, get no invented number: the calculator says so and hands you the diagnosis instead. Real condition can swing the used value either way; if the numbers land close, the full guide walks the questions the calculator can't ask.
