One bench. One technician.
I find the failing part instead of swapping boards. No hourly meter. No board-swap guessing. Just component-level repair, the way it should be done.
Where I come from
Before this bench: PS Audio, Ayre Acoustics, and TMR Audio — combined 15 years.
PS Audio — nearly a decade. Circuit-level diagnostics, firmware recoveries, hundreds of DirectStream recoveries, Power Plant repairs. Customer support that went beyond the ticket. Dealing with problems other people didn't want to touch.
Ayre Acoustics and TMR Audio — five more years. High-end solid-state, tube hybrids, and the kind of gear where one bad solder joint costs you a $2,000 board. Learned precision the hard way: on gear where there is no room for error.
I learned what trust looks like when expensive gear isn't working. You don't swap a board and hope. You find the failing part. You name it. You tell the customer exactly what's wrong and exactly what it costs before you touch anything.
That's the standard I brought to my own bench.
How I work
You describe it
Tell me what's wrong. Type it, send photos. Either way works.
I diagnose it
On the bench. Schematic level. Find the actual failing part.
You approve
You see the part and labor before anything is touched.
I fix it
Repaired, tested, documented. Track it live with your ticket number.
What I believe
Right to Repair
Replace the 50-cent cap, not the $500 board. Your hardware, your right to keep it running.
No Board-Swap Guessing
Most shops swap the board and charge you for it. I find the failing component. That's the difference between a $3 part and a $500 repair.
Honest Diagnosis
If it's not worth fixing, I tell you. You don't pay to hear it. The diagnostic fee is credited toward any repair you approve.
This Is Personal
As a Type 1 Diabetic, I rely on technology every day. I know what it means when gear isn't working. Algorithms should work for people, not be corporate black boxes.
What I fix
Our guarantee
No surprises. No runaround. If we can’t fix it, you don’t pay.
90-Day Warranty, Transferable
If the same issue recurs within 90 days, we re-fix it free. Sell or gift the device and the warranty goes with it. Parts warranty passes through from the manufacturer.
No-Fix, No-Fee
If we can’t fix it, you pay nothing. The diagnostic fee is credited toward any repair you approve, and waived entirely if we can’t deliver.
“Not Worth Fixing” = Free
Sometimes the honest answer is replace it. When we tell you that, you owe nothing for the diagnosis. We will not charge you to find out.
Upfront Pricing
You approve the quote before any work starts. No hourly meter, no hidden fees, no surprises on the invoice.
What we don’t fix
Honest scope limits. We’d rather tell you now than waste your time.
Apple Silicon Board Repair
No schematic access for M-series Macs and newer iPads. We can handle battery, screen, and some port repairs, but not board-level work on these devices.
Late-Stage Liquid Damage
If corrosion has been spreading for more than 48 hours, the damage is often too deep for component-level repair. Bring it in ASAP for the best chance.
Appliances & Vehicles
Washers, dryers, refrigerators, ovens — refer to an appliance repair tech. Vehicle electrical work goes to an automotive electrician.
Commercial PLCs & Industrial
We don’t service factory automation, industrial control systems, or commercial HVAC controls. These need specialized technicians.
Physically Destroyed Storage
Shattered platters, fire damage, crushed drives — some damage is beyond recovery. We’ll tell you honestly if it’s worth attempting.
Firmware-Locked Repairs
Some manufacturer components (certain Apple/Google parts) require proprietary calibration tools we don’t have. We’ll tell you what’s possible.
How long will it take?
Typical turnaround by service type. You get a timeline with your estimate.
Parts-dependent work may take longer. We keep you posted at every step.
Is it worth fixing?
The honest answer depends on three things. Here is how we think about it.
The repair-vs-replace rule
If the repair costs less than half of what a comparable replacement costs, fix it. If it is more than half, tell us and we will help you decide — sometimes the data, the setup, or the sentiment makes it worth it anyway.
Computers & phones
Under $200? Almost always worth it. $200–$400? Depends on device age and what you need. Over $400? We will tell you straight — buy new if it makes more sense.
Audiophile gear
Almost always worth fixing. A $500 amp with a $150 repair is a no-brainer. Vintage gear especially — the replacement costs 5x what the repair does.
Under warranty?
Check with the manufacturer first. If they will not cover it (or the wait is too long), we can usually fix it faster and cheaper. We never void your warranty — we document everything.
Serving Longmont and beyond
